About Jean Paul Gaultier

An ambivalent marine, as virile and sexy as toy-boy.

In 1995, the fragrance Le Mâle revolutionized the world of perfumery by offering a nonconformist view of masculinity. It pays tribute to a symbolic figure who has long been a source of inspiration for the designer: the sailor.

A torso-shaped bottle with unashamed masculine attributes. Etched on the transparent glass is Jean Paul Gaultier’s emblematic garment for men: the sailor striped jersey, a symbol of freedom and seduction. The iconoclastic designer appropriates an everyday object and transforms it into an artistic case: the now-famous metal can.
